Q.Is this training really FREE for PMPs? If
so, what is the catch?
A. The course is free and there is no catch.
The Agile Boston user group intends to train 1000 PMPs in genuine
and authentic Agile practices and thinking. We believe the best
way to do this is to offer a free class to PMPs. See more detail
below.
One of Agile Boston's values is 'Serve Others'.
We are executing on that with this program. Learn more
about Agile Boston values here.
Q. I am a member of PMI and I am studying
for the PMP but I do not have it yet. Can I attend?
A. Yes you may attend for just $149 which
includes lunch.
Q. I am not a member of PMI. May I attend?
A. Yes, you may also attend for just $149
which includes lunch.
Q. Why $149??
A.
The average cost of any kind of Agile-related is $500. "Certified
Scrum Master' training in and around Boston costs up to $800
a day !!
We want you to attend this full-immersion
1-day Agile training. It is
the real deal, and suitable for ANYONE new to Agile. We
are providing you with a discount of over 67% off of that price.
The hugely discounted price includes your
lunch and materials. Expect to have a great time !!
Q. What are the goals
and objectives of this Agile training?
A. Students exit this class
grounded in Agile fundamentals including iterative/incremental
development, frequent
inspection, collaborative roles, Agile estimating and planning,
incremental delivery, conducting retrospectives, iteration and
release planning, failing fast, deferring commitment, minimum
marketable features, Agile roles and more !
This course contains
everything you need to get started with learning genuine and
authentoic Agile. However, we do not represent nor do we warrant
that the course
content
and related materials are fit for any particular purpose.
Q.Why is this class free for PMPs but costs
others a typical price for a day of training?
A. The primary purpose of this class is to
give PMPs a good grounding in genuine and authentic Agile. Secondly,
$149 is a very cheap training day. We teach Agile and Scrum
in this class.
Typical prices for Scrum training are priced
at
up
to
$800 per
day. This course is a 1-day class in authentic Agile fundamentals,
and includes some training in Scrum. This is a quality course
and is priced in alignment with our goals
to
raise
the
level
of Agility
in
the
Boston region, and to introduce 1000 PMPs to Agility
by December 31, 2012.
This goal assumes
the world
does not come to an end before our deadline.
Q. The registration
system doesn't ask me for my PMP information. What do I do
after I register?
A. Just bring your information
to the class and you are all set. Go up to the PMI web site and
print out your up-to-date credential information
(or get it some other way) and
bring
it with you to the class. Everyone registering at the "free-except-for-lunch
price" of $15 MUST show proof of an up-to-date
PMP certification. This price is for valid PMPs ONLY.
Q. Will I be ready
to take the exam and pass it after this class?
A. This
is a first course in Agile for PMPs and others new to Agile.
This class is about getting you grounded in genuine and authentic
Agile
concepts
and thinking.
You'll need that to be truly successful with Agile. How you choose
to use the course content is entirely up to you.
Q. Is this class
fun?
A. People who attend
this class say they like it a lot !!
Q. What about support
after the class?
A. We answer your questions
on Agile for 30 days as part of what you receive for attendance.

that can be named.
We are doing this because training Boston-based
PMPs in Agile, for free, is aligned with our stated intention.
Further:
We are doing this because: we want
everyone to work in an open and
participatory
workplace,
where
everyone
is engaged and committed. (Learn more about Agile
Boston here.)
We are doing this because: we want Agile concepts
and practices to spread, because Agile workplaces are open
and opt-in, and feature very high levels of engagement and happiness
at work.
We are doing this because: we want every PMP
in the world to help create thriving, participatory Agile work
places.
We are doing this because: we want want to

Q. How long is lunch?
A. Lunch is about a half
hour
Q. The registration
system says the class is kid-friendly. What does this mean?
A. It means you can bring
your kid to the class for free if you want. Kids do not get materials
and need to bring their own lunch, unless they register.

This kid is a LEGOS
expert and is making a suggestion to his team-- all adults--
during an Agile simulation game. On Agile teams, leadership
moves
around
from iteration
to iteration,
and from person to person, depending on the nature of the work
at hand. Everyone does everything-- including sharing domain
expertise
when asked.
Q. What is the age
limit for kids who attend? How many kids can I bring?
A. You may bring one kid
between the ages of 8 and 14 inclusive.
Q. What kinds of
things will we do in the class?
A. We will hear some lectures,
engage in Q&A, do group-level exercises, make and keep commitments,
experience iterative and collaborative work, and have fun while
we learn this
Agile stuff.
And, you'll meet
new people and make some friends as we go along. Adults of any
age and kids between the ages of 8 and 14 have lots of fun in
this class.

Hey, it's not all fun and games. These
students are learning about self-organization and informal
authorization.
